Launching the Big Diet Study
At ZOE, we want to research topics that are relevant to you and your lifestyle, as well as feeding into the wider scientific studies that we have ongoing with our team of researchers.
The Big Diet Study is the latest research project in which you can take part.
What’s The Big Diet Study?
This study supports The Role of the Gut Microbiome in Cancer Development research, for which over 196,000 of you voted in the ZOE Health Study app.
It will consist of an in-depth survey looking at your own personal recent diet and food consumption habits, and usually takes around 20-30 minutes to complete.
Through the study, we aim to look at your gut health and regular diet patterns, as well as COVID data, to better understand how they link to the development of diseases like cancer. A good diet increases your friendly gut microbes, which can strengthen your immune system and can even improve how well cancer treatment works.
This study is the first step towards better understanding the connection between cancer and diet. We look forward to inviting you to more opportunities in the future which support this research.
Your contribution to The Big Diet Study can also be used to feed into our exciting new Intermittent Fasting Study launching on October 24th. By filling out the survey today, you can get a head start on participating in research on how the timing of meals impacts your body.
How can you get involved?
We’re inviting all UK primary ZOE Health Study Contributors who have consented to help research health issues beyond COVID to get involved. If you’ve not yet opted in to help research beyond COVID, you can do so by clicking the menu bar (top right corner of the homepage) in the app and going to the 'wider health studies' section.
Just look out in your inbox for your personal email invitation to take part in the study. The link you receive in the email is connected to your ZOE Health Study account, so make sure you’re checking in the inbox related to your app account. If you can’t find the invitation by searching in your inbox, be sure to check through your junk email in case it got lost there by mistake.
You can see the email address connected to your ZOE Health Study app account by clicking on the menu bar, represented by three lines in the top right corner of the homepage in the app.
Our scientists will share your personalised results in the app as soon as they're available. In the meantime, you can get an overview of results by subscribing to our Youtube channel and getting fortnightly video updates from Tim Spector.
If you have any other queries, please check out our FAQ to see if your questions have been addressed there, referring to the ‘lifestyle habits’ survey.
